What’s that behind us? 👀

The first full working week of 2022! How has yours been?

I’ve had some huge highs to start the year - launching my first Online Training Programme and seeing an incredible group of people come together to not only invest time and effort into themselves to gain strength - but also supporting others and being a strong team. It has really re-affirmed to me that connecting with people and helping them to realise their own strength and power is an absolute blessing and truly makes me happy.

(And sidenote to those asking if they can join my next Online Strength Training Programme… I’m taking on a new group in February! DM for details 🎉)

And speaking of power, teaching the first of @boomcycle ‘s Ultimate Ride Series on Weds eve was UNREAL. A full studio of Little Mixers, sharing the podium with incredibly talented dancers and the most amazing positive energy - what a way to start the year 💖

I actually don’t advocate dwelling in the past too much - but - when you can look back and be thankful for highlights like this, then its absolutely worth that sassy glance over the shoulder 💁🏼‍♀️

$I changed my life - and now I wouldn’t have it any other way. It sounds drastic to say, but discovering strength training quite literally changed my life. These photos tell literally a fraction of the story - yes the physical changes can be seen, but the changes in my confidence, relationship with myself (and in turn relationships with others) and my overall health and energy levels pulled me back out of a very, very dark place. I started training in my 20s when I got to a point that I was so unfit, I was completely out of breath walking up 4 flights of stairs. At 26 that scared me and I vowed something had to change. I joined a gym, I tried a few classes, but I hated myself and the way I looked so much it all felt like such an uphill battle. I know what it’s like to be so uncomfortable in your own skin. To not want to let anyone in because you don’t even like yourself. To quite literally hide at the back, cover up in baggy clothes so that no one can look at you, no one pays any attention to you. I wasted so so much time and energy in my 20s and early 30s feeling this way. But then I decided to hire a Personal Trainer and really, truly work on myself. Once I started lifting weights there was no going back. Suddenly I felt a strength I never knew I had. It felt empowering. I felt confident when I did it. I actually thought, you know what - I might actually be good at something. So I kept going. My belief in myself came back. I even started to feel so grateful for what my body was doing, rather than hating the way it looked. I finally felt free. This is why I am passionate about strength training. This is why I want to help bring this experience to others. Way, way beyond the superficial, I want to help people believe in themselves again, to see what they’re capable of. That’s why I created my 10 Week Programme. It comes from the changes I made to my own life. I want to help others feel that way too. Come and join us, I’d love to have you. Why train with me? What am I like as a coach?

With all this promotion of my new Online Training Programme, you might be wondering. Have a look through the testimonials and feedback above - all from PT clients of mine over the years and all completely genuine.

I know the world of online fitness can seem a little murky and it’s hard to know who to trust, and who has the goods to back up what they’re telling you. All I can say is, I’ve been training people 1:1 since 2013, and in those 8 years I’ve had dozens of clients and delivered thousands of sessions. The testimonials above are just a snippet - there are many more reviews on my PT website if you’d like to have a look. I’ve continued to educate myself and take courses over the past few years, and mostly importantly I train myself and am always adapting and tweaking my own training methods to get the results I want.

My 10 Week Programme has been completely designed by me. These are exercises and workouts I have used with clients many times over the years - because they get results. The sessions build in intensity as the Programme progresses, and you’ll learn good movement foundations to help you get stronger as the weeks go on.

2021 was a rollercoaster for me - some great bits, some awful bits, and several first times. Like most of us, I look ahead into 2022 that things will get better (especially for my family ❤️), but I think it’s also always important to celebrate the good things and good times!

Things I want to celebrate from 2021:

🌟 Fulfilled my ambition to go on @itvchase sadly not my ambition to beat a Chaser - @theshaunwallace - but close!)

🌟 Incurred the wrath of the Internet for days after appearing on The Chase for daring to a) be vegan and b) look younger than 41 🤷🏼‍♀️

🌟 Taught on stage at @balance_festival in a cloud of glitter confetti with a team of amazing dancers 🥰

🌟 Taught my first ever Live streamed classes for @apexrides

🌟 Taught some amazing Theme Rides at @boomcycle with incredible Riders - Free Britney tore the roof off I swear 🔥

🌟 After months of hard work, launched my very first Online Training Programme! Whilst I’ve only just launched to the public now I’ve been working on this since September and am so proud of the Programme and can’t wait to get it started in Jan (link in my Bio for info!)

I hope for you too, you can find the positives in the past year, and look forward to 2022 with hope. I wish for a Happy, Healthy year ahead for us all🙏🏼❤️

To everyone who has supported my huge leap of faith - thank you! 🙏🏼

Launching my own Online Fitness Programme this week was a big step for me - one I put off for a long time as I was worried it would be too much work, people wouldn’t like it, clients would prefer a younger, trendier Insta-trainer… ultimately I was scared of failure and I let it hold me back.

I think though over the past 18 months we’ve all realised life is short, and if you keep waiting for the right time, it may never happen. It’s been a busy busy few months to get here (and most of 2021 in the planning!) - but I am SO proud of my Online 10 Week Platform and App and literally cannot wait to get going with my first amazing group of clients to help them feel stronger and fitter than ever before. “Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. Strength comes from overcoming the things you thought you couldn’t”.

I’ll never stop saying this - but strength training literally changed my life. There were physical changes, yes absolutely, but the biggest changes were within me and my relationship with myself. Given what I do now, many will find it hard to believe that I used to be shy, quiet, and terrified of speaking in public. I hated myself, and I hated my body - I avoided mirrors and destroyed photos of myself. I put up with bad situations and toxic exes because I didn’t think I deserved any better.

But something about lifting weights, about training in a way I never in a million years thought I’d be able to, just made me realise maybe I WAS capable of more. Maybe I wasn’t such a bad person. Maybe I could let people hear my voice. Maybe I should start respecting my body and what it can actually do. Feeling physically strong finally made me realise I had worth. It gave me a confidence I never had before. It continues to every single day. It helps me feel balanced, grounded and actually thankful for everything I am able to do. Hating my body and hating myself was such a drain and such a waste of energy. Realising my physical strength makes me see my body in a totally different way.

When you see someone without a smile - give them one of yours 😄

It’s no secret I LOVE my job and love teaching classes - do you know my cheeks often hurt afterwards because I’ve been smiling the whole way through without realising?!

But a couple of years ago I always hid my smile - my teeth were crooked, negative comments people had made about my wonky teeth stuck in my head so I hated smiling and revealing them. As I come to the very end of my @invisalign_uk journey (I have my final appointment and sign off with the wonderful @drchawsukyi in a couple of weeks) I can honestly say my Invisalign journey has changed my life. I literally love to smile now - and I hope this happiness can be spread to others - I’ll happily now give anyone a smile of mine if they need one 😁

The Christmas conundrum…. To train or not to train? And really - that is your question - because there’s no right or wrong answer.

You might want to throw yourself head first into party season and not give exercise a second thought for the next month - but you might also, like me, find it a fantastic way to deal with festive anxiety and make some time just for you in these hectic few weeks.

It’s more than okay to workout less than usual during this time of year, and instead create magic moments with those you love - but missing a few sessions here and there doesn’t need to automatically become ignoring exercise entirely until 2022. Forget guilt/earning treats/getting party dress ready (run out of vile cliches, sorry 🙃) - maybe you might want to move your body to help you feel more energised? To give yourself some time to focus on you? To relieve stress after endless present buying/relative visiting? To just get some endorphins flowing and feel like a powerful badass cause that’s what you are?

There’s a lot to deal with at this time of year, don’t let your fitness routine be another cause of festive stress. Move your body because it feels good and you want to, but absolutely no guilt if you don’t. But if you find the stress of wrapping gifts for dozens of family members/worrying about who you’ll sit next to at the office party/ cooking Christmas lunch for the in-laws all too much - don’t forget a workout might be the best present you could give yourself in that moment.

And with all the celebrations at this time of year, one thing worth celebrating all 12 months and not just December is how amazing our bodies are, and the endless incredible things they do for us everyday. Not just for Christmas! 🎄

It’s okay to be scared
It’s normal to fear judgment
It’s alright to fear failure

Social media I know paints many of us to be hustling badass babes who “feel the fear and do it anyway” because “no risk no reward” and “f*** the haters” - and to a degree I love this for us. But - I think it’s also important to speak about the times when we also feel low, weak, full of self doubt and terrified of nothing working out. I honestly experience hours, days, sometimes weeks when self doubt and failure rattle constantly in my head.

I’ve taken some huge risks over the years - if I hadn’t decided to try and get fit back in my late 20s I probably wouldn’t be a PT and Instructor now. If I hadn’t quit my corporate job I wouldn’t be running my own business. And every day I’m grateful that I do a job I love and have the chance to motivate others - but that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of times when all I could think was “what if this is all one massive mistake and everyone thinks I’m a huge failure?”

I’ve made a huge decision about the future of my Personal Training business over the past few weeks, and whilst I’m so proud of what’s to come and genuinely excited to share it, I’m also terrified that people won’t like it and I’ve put all this hard work in for nothing.

I’m just sharing this because it’s so easy to get caught up in the social media comparison trap - “oh she’s busy and smashing it and loving life, why aren’t I?” - when in reality I’ve spent a lot of time this week worrying if people actually enjoy riding my classes and if the new direction for my business is actually going to pay off. This will pass I know, and yes, with reward always comes some sort of risk - but I just wanted to say it’s okay to be scared of that risk, and that truly, everyone doubts themselves sometimes.

“Wish I knew back then, what I know now

Go back in time and listen to my own advice”

How I held in the tears playing “Little Me” by @littlemix so many times this weekend on the @balance_festival stage I’ll never know - because little me herself would never, ever have had the confidence, courage or self-belief to be up there being seen by so many people. Being bullied, having an eating disorder, dealing with emotional abuse from an ex…. The feeling I wasn’t good enough grew and grew over the years, and the more it did the more I wanted to hide from everyone. (Hence wanting to shrink myself by starving in the hope maybe, one day, I might just disappear).

Every word of that song resonates with me, and to share it with so many of you in classes this weekend, to see people singing, nodding, mouthing “you can be beautiful, wonderful, anything you wanna be” - it meant more to me than you’ll ever know.
I never thought I could be on a stage, motivating people, in a cloud of glitter confetti - moments of this weekend felt like a dream - and I wish I could go back and tell Little Me to love and believe in herself and that she was strong, despite what anyone said.

If you have a passion for something, please don’t let your critics - internal and external - hold you back. It is true that you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and whilst I may still shake with nerves before big events like Balance, not a moment goes by when I don’t feel so grateful for having this chance, for getting a chance to turn what I thought was weakness into strength to support others.

Little Mix said it best - you can be anything you wanna be. Time to start believing it ✨
